Spring fever has taken hold of Brooklyn — and the new Brooklyn Bridge Rotary Club is psyched!
Here’s what’s on tap at our first two lunch meetings in May:
On Thursday May 5, Regina Myer, president of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation, will fill us in on the blossoming of her development along the Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO waterfronts. Her talk over lunch is perfectly timed for a spring day when, if the weather’s right, some Rotarians may choose to follow lunch with a walk to Brooklyn’s newest — and perhaps the city’s most creative — park, just a few blocks from the NY Marriott Brooklyn Bridge. (Brooklyn Bridge Park’s in the news today with the go-ahead for a bridge over Furman Street that will connect the old Squibb playground in the North Heights with the park below — fresh progress in the air!)
Then on Thursday May 12, the powerhouses behind the editorial content in The Brooklyn Paper and Brooklyn’s Courier-Life newspapers and Websites will enthrall and entertain. They’ll discuss media in our communities — and anyone who’s ever seen Gersh Kuntzman and Vince DiMiceli in action will attest that their presentation won’t stick to the basics of Journalism 101. There’s a whole new hyper-local-multi-media world out there, and Gersh and Vince are in the thick of it.
Both of these meetings, organized by Judith Winn, will be red-hot. Come, and bring a friend!
Brooklyn Bridge Rotary Club meets every Thursday, 12:15–1:30 pm, in the Archives Restaurant at the NY Marriott Brooklyn Bridge. For more info, call President Vivian Hardison at 917-804-0797, or email info@BrooklynBridgeRotary.org.
