Update on Kevens Loctamar-Our First Gift of Life Child

Karla J. Prentiss, EMT, Director, National Development Operations and Stewardship, Catholic Health Initiatives Foundation, writes:

“Good Afternoon Team Members, Supporters and Friends,

In love and support this little guy, we needed an update. I received the updated photos below (just late yesterday) and wanted to share. A special THANK YOU to Sr. Jackie! What a journey he has been on this year! If you really stop and think about it, it can take your breath away. So many things had to go right, so many volunteers had to step in and up (boy – did they!) Please know the family is eternally grateful for the role each of you played in his “story”.

Kevens is doing well – flourishing with each new day. Kevens started school in September with the assistance of gracious investors in his future here in Colorado. He is pictured below in his school uniform. Onward to great things young man!

A very special thank you to Carole Peet for being the Haiti Project CHAMPION. Your direction has kept us focused and moving upstream.

A short video was made to include aspects of Kevens’ and his families journey this year. Lots of familiar faces – from the surgery, to the birthday party to being back home in Gros Morne – it is a little over 5 minutes but well worth it. In a moment of reflection, I invite you to watch the video all the way through.

Everyone who knows Kevens, knows he LOVES watching himself in the mirror, on video or in pictures. We made him a hard bound book as well as loaded the video onto a digital frame for him to watch over and over…. Lots of batteries were sent as well. You should have seen his smile.
